Im the copresident of the Democratic Club and i know all of about a month ago received our letter of support for the appointment of hef ner who has served on the executive board of Harvey Milk Club it receive. The club was founded speckly that lgbt voices were heard from the board of supervisors and task forces and lee is the exact voice that we should be amplifying. Hes an eager and passionate lgbt advocate member and is dedicated to Public Service which is the kind of person we would like to see on our city committee. And the milk club started some 40 years ago of being a Queer Community leader who brings voices of other communities to the table to help those with labor groups and those of color and on the board he serves as a contact for organizations working on the housing and displacement crisis, working in communities of color like husta and on the task force, hell be someone who will really adequately represent the Lgbt Community but many underserved communities who will benefit from her commitment to Public Service and to increase transparency and government. On this item last time and there were a couple of issues that occurred. One was not having a full committee and there wasnt any further agreement with other candidates. Then there was nothing i was able to do except i could have done two things. One is to start all over or two, what i did was duplicate the file so people dont have to reapply and go through everything again, so i choose a latter so we can move this item. The other issue that came up was the issue of diversity from the last meeting. And so in actually doing what we did, it gave an opportunity for people to try to seek out further diversity. I was actually kind of happy to see that there was one new applicant who happened to be ethnically diverse. I could have said, oh, well. Lets continue the item until we have some diversity.
