The Codington County Commissioners spent the better part of their meeting this week hearing out the pros and cons of purchasing three new road graders for Codington County. Two companies were competing for the countyâs business. Highway Superintendent Rick Hartley recommended purchasing the graders from Butler-Cat: Your browser does not support the audio element.
All agreed that both brands were quality machine, however following a lengthy discussion that centered on grader buybacks, service, and grader accessories the commission opted to purchase from Butler-Cat through the countyâs purchasing agent Sourcewell at a cost of just over 329,000 dollars.Â
Those in favor were Commissioners Troy VanDusen, Brenda Hanten, and Lee Gabel. Opposing were Commissioners Myron Johnson and Charlie Waterman who raised questions about company buybacks.Â
