I’ve covered arts and entertainment and written humor columns at The Day for almost a quarter-century. What I’ve learned is how privileged I’ve been to explore for readers an incredibly diverse, active, and creative cultural area – from local music clubs, galleries and museums to numerous nationally famous authors, performance organizations and the array of talent that flows through the Garde Arts Center, and Mohegan Sun and Foxwoods casinos, and much more.

Lee Elci is outraged again where none is warranted, “Where’s the Outrage?” (March 25). He wants to pillory Governor Lamont because the governor’s wife owns stock in a company that assisted in our COVID-19 response. His few facts do not support his huge suppositions. Elci is a propaganda pump, a rabid supporter of convicted fraudster Donald Trump, who was ordered to pay a $2 million fine for stealing from charities. Elci cannot sing with the angels while he is dancing with the devil.
Elci should have credited the Hartford Courant for tracking the COVID bucks rather than his buddy, Tony De Angelo, co-owner of a business that seeks a chunk of old folks’ money for “advising” them. The business has six extensions, but nobody answered the phone on a weekday afternoon.

The word is shameful. Even that does not adequately describe the tone-deaf statement contained in the latest Lee Elci column, “Pandemic profits linked to Connecticut’s first couple,” (March 10), “…to walk to the basement and whisper in Joe’s ear, continually ramping up COVID-19 hysteria.” In what world is he living? Does he read the paper that publishes his column? Did he see the heartbreaking list of names of family, friends and neighbors who have died?
As deaths in the United States surpass 530,000, we are feeling hopeful because the death toll is dropping. Last week in the United States it was “only” equivalent to the total population of Bozrah, Franklin, Salem and Voluntown combined.
