In June 2021, Leduc City Council approved electric vehicle charging stations and a solar carport to be installed at the corner of 49th Street and 49th Avenue, subject to grant approval. Affordable low-income housing is something every community struggles to provide, and the city of Leduc is no different.
So, when Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation offered $500 million to municipalities, the Leduc Regional Housing Foundation was one of the first to spring into action. The government is looking for, essentially, shovel-ready projects, said Leduc city councillor Bill Hamilton, who also sits on the Foundation board. When we can put, potentially, 20 units 18 of them one-bedroom units, which are highly in demand for affordable housing into the community, I think both city council and administration are of the mind that that s important to move ahead.
