A man has been arrested following an early morning assault in Motueka on Sunday. In a statement, police said a 22-year-old man would appear in Nelson District Court on Monday charged with assault. Police earlier said the woman was attacked while walking home somewhere between High St and Thorp St or between Greenwood and Tudor St.

Police are seeking the public’s help after a woman was seriously assaulted in Motueka early on Sunday morning.
A woman has been seriously assaulted while walking home late at night in Motueka, police say. Nelson Bays Detectives are investigating the attack, which took place on Sunday between 2am and 2.30am. Police say the woman was attacked as she walked home somewhere between High Street and Thorp Street or between Greenwood and Tudor Streets. Detectives are particularly interested in the area in or around Wilkinson Street to Ledger Avenue, Goodman Drive and Ledger - Goodman park.
