College trustee resigns

Green River Star - Carla Hester-Croff Western Wyoming Community College has a vacancy on its board of trustees after a member announced her resignation Tuesday over concerns about a proposed board removal policy. Carla Hester-Croff, who was elected to her first team in Nov. 2020, resigned Tuesday morning prior to an informal discussion about the board of trustees policies. The board accepted the resignation Wednesday. In a written statement, Hester-Croff thanked residents for the support she received in being elected to the board, but said transparency of the college s actions were not supported by the college. There are values and beliefs that I hold dear such as transparency, open communication and healthy debate of issues presented, Hester-Croff wrote. These values and beliefs have been discouraged and often silence is encouraged.

Disputes, arrests over school curriculum in northeastern Syria

Disputes, arrests over school curriculum in northeastern Syria Kurdish students attend class at a school in Qamishli, Syria, March 11, 2019. (Photo: Reuters/Issam Abdallah) ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – The arrest of a number of teachers last week who were privately teaching the official curriculum of the Syrian government highlights the complex situation in northeastern Syria where Damascus and the local self-ruled administration compete over what is taught to the youth who live there. On Jan. 19, Kurdish-led Internal Security Forces (ISF), also known as Asayesh, arrested seven teachers for secretly teaching the Syrian regime curriculum in the Kurdish border town of Darbasiya. On the following day, students and their relatives protested the detentions.
