The child was attacked at around 2pm on Wednesday, with police sealing off the road as officers worked at the scene. Ambulance crews were also called out to the scene on Southport Road in Bootle and the boy was taken to hospital for treatment. His condition is not believed to be life-threatening, according to a spokesperson for the police force.
