NaTalia Johnson, a Ballet Lubbock original, was an energy of fire that lit the dance world ablaze with her bold spirit. From her dancing to her teaching, she changed lives. Today we send our condolences to her family and friends. May she rest in peace, reads a social media post from Ballet Lubbock. Johnson, who was 37 when she died May 7, most recently served as artistic director of the Sacramento-based Natalia Johnson Conservatory of Ballet, which she opened in 2013 after retiring from professional dancing.

Lubbock biz briefs: Updates on Alamo Drafthouse, Betenbough s new community and more Alamo Lubbock plans July re-opening While its website says it s still temporarily closed, the Alamo Drafthouse corporate news website announced this week that plans are under way to re-open Lubbock s location in July. Beginning on April 28, at least fifteen of our theaters will be brought back online this summer, roughly (re)doubling our footprint to over thirty theaters across the country. It ll also bring Dallas, Omaha, San Francisco, Lubbock, Laredo, and Yonkers back into the lineup, the site reads. Although a specific date wasn t yet announced, Lubbock was listed for re-opening in July along with locations in Austin, Dallas / Fort Worth and Laredo.
