Chief Petty Officer Bryce Pedicini, formerly a fire controlman aboard the guided-missile destroyer USS Higgins, was convicted in April of attempted espionage and sentenced Wednesday to 18 years in prison by a military judge. Pedicini also received a dishonorable discharge and a reduction in rank to seaman recruit.
The Squires of Katahdin, a student team from Wilton competed at the Maine First Lego League Challenge State Championship held Feb. 3 in Brewer and won championship finalist award.
