news Shearer: ‘Excellent’ Leeds ‘keeper has ‘room to improve’ Football365 1 hour ago © Getty Images Alan-Shearer-F365-2 Alan Shearer has praised Leeds United goalkeeper Illan Meslier for having an “exceptional” season but he adds that he can still improve in many areas. The 21-year-old joined Leeds in 2019 on an initial loan deal from French outfit Lorient. He started the 2019/20 season as the backup to Kiko Casilla. But with Casilla underperforming, Meslier ended the campaign as Marcelo Bielsa’s first-choice goalkeeper. Leeds acted quickly to make Meslier’s move permanent ahead of their return season in the Premier League. He featured in 35 of their 38 league games in 2020/21 and he has been one of their best performers.
