executive director of the league of young voters. thanks for your time. appreciate you coming in today, because its really cold outside. chuck, what happened? we saw this surge of the youth vote and people coming out that wanted to effect ching. w change. why has that dissipated? 2009 was a special period of time. a lot of people were very disenfranchised with the previous eight years in some of the things they had witnessed under the previous president s administration. and i think that a lot of people were motivated to see a definitive change going forward. obama was the perfect storm, he had the right messaging and the right method of reaching the youth. he was a youthful face himself. and since then, obviously, we ve seen that it has been a pretty difficult struggle for a lot of people and a lot of families and folks across the country. i think that that has caused
so you should have the same capacity, right and privileges as an american citizen whether born here or naturalized who has gone through a criminal background check, who has taken civics class, who has taken a test. who comprehends english enough to take a citizenship test, you should have the right to vote as well. megyn: the league of young voters says they are here. they count when it comes to counting up the number of residents for getting federal dollars, sew it counts when it comes to getting federal money but they don t count when it comes to voting in november? do they have a point? i don t think they have a point. sit seasonship is a citizenship is a right and privilege we take serious any this country. i chaired a commission in new york state, we were looking at election modernization. we held hearings. a korean veteran says when i go
