done to level the playing field. reporter: the young women of arlington soccer can t envision a life without games, drills and teammates sports have always been a huge part of my life. reporter: can you imagine not being able to play sports no honestly. reporter: but for girls and women who grew up before the passage of title ix that was often the reality. when i was 9 i just remember locking out on the field and my heart sank because for the first time i realized i m a girl. i can t play baseball. we played in the backyards. my brother had little league. we didn t have little league girls can play little league now. i think there s so much more opportunity today it s fantastic. but then on the other side - so much more to do. so much more to do. reporter: billie jean king devoted her life to fighting for equality in women s sports. i caught up with her at the new york historical society home to a new exhibi celebrating title ix which was signed into law 50 years
