Premier League Chief Executive Richard Masters has condemned the racist abuse sent to Manchester United players Axel Tuanzebe and Anthony Martial and West Bromwich Albion’s Romaine Sawyers. The players and their families were all victims of online abuse this week.
Masters said: I am appalled to see the racial abuse received by players this week. Racist behaviour of any form is unacceptable and nobody should have to deal with it. Tackling online hate is a priority for football, and I believe social media companies need to do more.

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has branded the racist abuse directed at Axel Tuanzebe and Anthony Martial following the defeat to Sheffield United as disgusting.
The club condemned the number of abusive messages sent to the pair on social media after the 2-1 defeat on Wednesday and the United manager said those responsible were not welcome to support the club. It s just incredible we have these scenes still, this abuse in 2021, Solskjaer told a news conference on Friday. We ve been campaigning for a long time now with the Premier League and I think it s working but there are still some people that haven t got it.

Footballers in four major football leagues have been reminded that handshakes, high fives and hugs must be avoided - which means players can t celebrate goals in the way they normally would.
The guidance from the Premier League says that players must maintain social distancing, and unnecessary contact, particularly between opposition clubs , with things like shirt swapping also banned.
Players have also been reminded of the importance of good hygiene and wearing face masks.

But many players and managers aren t happy about the guidance.
Cardiff City manager Neil Harris has called the efforts to stop players celebrating a joke , and Manchester City s Pep Guardiola said he didn t know whether it would be possible to curb celebrations.
