A 42-year-old man was shot and killed late Wednesday in Encanto and homicide investigators are looking into whether the killing is related to the fatal shooting of another man that occurred two months ago in the same area.
Police first learned of the shooting about 10:35 p.m. when they received an an alert from the ShotSpotter gunshot detection system of audio sensors. Residents in the area began calling 911 to also report the shooting, which occurred on Varney Drive near Leaf Terrace, San Diego police Lt. Andra Brown said.
Officers found a man who had been shot inside a trailer parked in the driveway of a house. The man lived in the trailer, which had sat in that location for a while, Brown said.
