People living in Grand Rapids' Neighborhoods of Focus can take advantage of better access to micromobility transportation options thanks to a new initiative.
Three firms Lime, Spin and Superpedestrian will start renting 1,000 scooters apiece outside downtown. City Hall also will let Lyft, operator of the Divvy bike-sharing system, add 1,000 scooters to its 230 downtown docking stations.
Small fleets of electric bikes and scooters have become a constant presence in and around the downtown area. The city says they have seen about 500,000 rides taken since they launched the program in late 2020.
