International media has reported regarding the Covid syrup developed by Dhammika from Kegalle stating that it has turned sour.
The reports stated that a self-styled Sri Lankan holy man’s supposed miracle potion to prevent Covid-19 has turned sour after a minister who publicly drank it was taken to hospital with the virus. Thousands defied public gathering restrictions to swamp a village in central Sri Lanka last month to get the syrup made by Dhammika Bandara.
The women and child development minister, Piyal Nishantha de Silva, was among several politicians who consumed the concoction, but parliamentary officials said he had since tested positive for coronavirus and was taken to a treatment centre according to the reports.

The supreme court verdict holding the charges on contempt of court against MP Sadda Vidda Rajapakse Palanga Pathira Ambakumarage Ranjan Leo Sylvester Alphonsu Alias Ranjan RamanayakaRanjan Ramanayake has been released.
The verdict states..
The charge levelled against him is that he committed the offence of contempt of court when he made the statement on 21.8.2017 outside the Temple Trees. He admitted in his evidence that he said the following words when he made the above statement. “Majority in Sri Lanka are corrupted Judges, corrupted lawyers. They work for money.”
We have earlier rejected his defence. For the above reasons, we affirm the Rule served on the Respondent and hold that the charge of contempt of court levelled against him has been proved beyond reasonable doubt.

Minister of Public Security Sarath Weerasekera stated that Jaffna University is not the exclusive domain or property of one community.
In a message that was shared on his private Twitter account, he pointed “It belongs to all law-abiding #SriLanka(ns) alike.”
Continuing he added that no one will and should be allowed to commemorate dead terrorists of a proscribed organization under the guise of remembering innocent civilians and create disharmony.
Meanwhile, In protest to the incident that took place at the Jaffna University yesterday (09) night, five students of the Jaffna University has launched a hunger strike.
The monument which was erected in 2018 to commemorate the 10 years since the end of the war in Sri Lanka was removed by the university administration in the midst of the protest of the gathered.
