Malta â Newly launched employment agencies Committee condemns charging fees to job seekers (Newsbook)
13 May 2021
Jobseekers in Malta should not be charged fees when seeking the help of employment agencies, a new unit within the Malta Chamber of Commerce, Enterprise and Industry says. According to
Newsbook, the law empowers the Director of Labour to refuse an application for a licence or even revoke the licence itself if an employment agency is found to have charged any fees or demanded payment from people seeking a job. Newly launched Malta Chamber Employment Agencies Committee within the Chamber of Commerce strongly condemned the levying of such fees on people who are seeking employment. Officially set up on 5th May, the new committee led by independent consultancy firm MISCO director Lawrence Zammit aims to strengthen the role of employment agencies while ensuring a level playing field in the growing market.
