New-comers in the country’s top flight league, Ekwendeni Hammers, are now on position four on the log table after a convincing 3-nil victory over rivals Mzuzu Warriors in a Mzuzu City derby that took place on Saturday at Mzuzu Stadium.

Hammers made their intent clear right from the first whistle as they attacked more and dominated play with purposeful passes especially in the midfield where they featured Omega Mhone, Blessings Singini, Robert Sulitha and Brian Phiri giving tough time to the Warriors defence with dangerous penetrating balls.
In the 14th minute, a cutting pass by Omega Mhone found Joseph Mbewe in the 18 metre box and his thunderous shot was reached by Warriors goalkeeper Leonard Manda with a visible determined stretch but the ball slipped off his hands and kissed the net.1 nil.
