A recommendation from a disciplinary committee that three of Nelson Mandela Bay’s top cops be dismissed from their posts for insubordination has been set aside and a much lighter sanction imposed.
Instead of being axed, provincial commissioner Lieutenant-General Liziwe Ntshinga has resolved that Humewood station commander Brigadier Leonie Bentley, Gelvandale station commander Brigadier Lawrence Soekoe and deputy district commissioner for visible policing Brigadier Ronald Koll be suspended without pay for two months.

Dismissal of Nelson Mandela Bay policemen changed to suspension
The Democratic Alliance (DA) in the Eastern Cape demanded to have three policemen, who were suspended, return back to work.
According to Marshall Von Buchenroder, Democratic Alliance (DA) MPL, the three Brigadiers will no longer be dismissed.
Humewood station commander Brigadier Leonie Bentley, Gelvandale station commander Brigadier Lawrence Soekoe and Brigadier Ronald Koll will now be suspended for two months without pay.

Three of Gqeberha’s top cops are waiting to hear their fate after disciplinary proceedings against them were wrapped up earlier on Friday with a recommendation for their dismissals. Humewood station commander Brigadier Leonie Bentley, Gelvandale station commander Brigadier Lawrence Soekoe and Brigadier Ronald Koll, the deputy district commissioner for visible policing, will in all likelihood be dismissed in accordance with the recommendation made by the disciplinary committee.
