The recent mystery surrounding the killing of three people at a house in Government Quarters along Jogoo Road in Nairobi marked yet another gruesome murder in the Kenyan capital.
Over the last year, the country has witnessed a spike in similar murder cases, with some eventually linked to inheritance wars, business deals, and family members confessing to hiring hit-men to murder their own kin.

Form four student kills father after interrupting romantic moment

A form four student in Kisuluni Secondary School was arrested by detectives from the Directorate of Criminal on Sunday night for killing his father after attacking him in Khayinga village, Bungoma County.
According to the DCI, 21-year-old Brian Wekesa committed the crime after his 45-year-old father, a local Jua Kali artisan, visited him to inquire about his school absenteeism only to find his son having a romantic time with an unidentified lady.
Following the intrusion, the raged student pounced on his father and beat him up before causing deep cuts to his head and arms with a machete and killing him.

Just last week, a 23 year old university student in Kiambu confessed to murdering his entire family (parents, two brothers) plus a worker. The gruesome murder shocked the whole nation but investigations are still ongoing.
The young man identified as Lawrence Simon Warunge is a second year IT student at Mount Kenya University. He continued a trend of young adults conducting unexplained acts of violence, like a recent on in Kisii where a high school student stabbed two teachers.
Kiambu Killings: Lawrence Warunge To Undergo Mental Assessment
Lawrence Simon Warunge, the main suspect in the murder of his family and a worker in Kiambu, was presented in court Monday morning.
The 22-year-old university student was arraigned alongside his girlfriend Sarah Muthoni. When the claims by the prosecution were read to him, Warunge said “no objection”.
The Kiambu court allowed police to hold the suspects for 14 days to allow investigators to conclude their probe.
Warunge will be detained at the Gigiri Police Station while Muthoni will be detained at the Muthaiga Police Station.
