Two former Cook County prosecutors have been accused of perjury and official misconduct in connection with a decades-old case of a man who alleged torture after he was accused in a police killing.
Nick Trutenko and Andrew Horvat are accused of lying about Trutenko’s relationship with a key witness against Jackie Wilson, allegedly tortured into confessing to the 1982 murders of two Chicago police officers.
Special prosecutor Lawrence Oliver on Wednesday announced a 14-count indictment against former Assistant State’s Attorneys Nicholas Trutenko and Andrew Horvat following the botched prosecution of Wilson, who was facing his third trial for the 1982 murders of police Officers William Fahey and Richard O’Brien.
