Very easy to focus on the grand battles of the war but this is a part that people need to know about. This is a part that affected civilians. This is a part that affected the people back home. And in many ways what happened in galveston and in texas was typical of what happened across the south. Particularly in seaports that were blockaded during the war. There was a continual, there was a continual Union Federal Navy Presence offshore, there were regular bombardments of the town. There was, you know excitement when a blockade runner would arrive.
