The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has proved mentally and physically taxing on some neurodivergent students as they have adapted to mask mandates, home learning environments and the absence of needed structure.
The term neurodiverse refers to the spectrum of differences in neurological development or function present within the human population, according to Northwest Arkansas advocacy group PerspectAbility. A neurodivergent individualâs neurological development and/or function are atypical. Examples of neurodivergence include autism, ADHD, dyslexia, and OCD.
