Mebane woman accused of altering hospital invoices for insurance money
A Mebane woman faces insurance fraud charges after authorities say she altered hospital invoices for insurance money.
Dominique Lawanun Burnette, 30, sent altered hospital invoices to the N.C. Farm Bureau Insurance Co. between Nov. 15, 2016, and July 13, 2017, according to a news release from the North Carolina Department of Insurance. She was served with a criminal summons on March 3.
Burnette is being charged with felony insurance fraud and felony attempting to obtain property by false pretense.
