An Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) in Nigeria, Zone 5, Benin, Lawan Jimeta Tanko, is dead. The zone comprises Edo, Delta and Bayelsa. Police Public Relations Officer, Bauchi State Command, Ahmed Wakil confirmed his death in a terse WhatsApp message on Sunday. He said: “Inna Lillahi wa inna ilaihi raji’un. With a heavy heart but total submission to the will of Almighty Allah, I wish to announce the death of A.I.G Lawan Tanko Jimeta
He assumed duty in Edo State on Wednesday, January 13, 2021.
CP Ogbadu took over from Johnson Babatunde Kokumo who was promoted to the rank of Assistant Inspector General (AIG) of police, recently.
The CP who hails from Kogi State on assumption of office in Edo went into a close door meeting with principal officers of the command.
The Edo new commissioner of police was among the 623 senior officers whose promotions were reportedly approved by the police service commission, last December.
Also, CP Ogbadu Aliyu Philip was among the eight commissioners of police deployed along with DIG and AIG by the Inspector General of police IGP Mohammed Abubakar Adamu to coordinate September 19 gubernatorial election in Edo State.
