KARACHI: The Sindh government has decided to restrict unnecessary movement of people, on foot or in vehicles, after 8pm from Tuesday (today) in the wake of an alarming spike in Covid-19 cases in the province.
The decision to this effect was taken at an extensive sitting of the Provincial Task Force, which was chaired by Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, held at CM House on Monday.
The meeting was told that during the past 24 hours, Sindh had detected 1,529 new cases, Punjab reported 802 more cases, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 470, Islamabad 106, Azad Jammu and Kashmir 69, Balochistan 66 and Gilgit-Baltistan 18. This showed that Sindh had the highest number of Covid-19 cases in the country, the chief minister said.

KARACHI: The Provincial Task Force on coronavirus, keeping in view the rising trend of new cases and increasing death rate, on Saturday decided to continue with the ongoing restrictions for the next two weeks with strict standard operating procedures (SOPs) across the province.
The meeting, presided over by Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah at CM House here, was attended by Provincial Ministers Dr Azra Fazal Pechuho and Saeed Ghani, Adviser on Law Murtaza Wahab, Chief Secretary Mumtaz Shah, IG Mushtaq Maher, Commissioner Karachi Naveed Shaikh, Additional IG Karachi Imran Minhas, Dr Abdul Bari, Dr Faisal, representatives of the Corps-5 and Rangers and other stakeholders.

KARACHI: The number of Covid-19 cases had increased by 30 per cent last year during the Eid holidays, said Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah on Wednesday, making an appeal to the people to stay home on the coming Eid.
“I would suggest to all the people to stay home and enjoy your Eid with your immediate family members. This is the only way to contain the virus and save others,” the CM said while presiding over a meeting of the Provincial Task Force on Coronavirus at CM House.

The CM on his visit to Keamari inspected the road from Gulbai to Y-junction, which is a 5.5-kilometre-long thoroughfare being constructed at a cost of Rs1 billion.
He said that the road was not only being constructed but widened. The width of each side of the road had been kept at 10.5 metres and for the first time, water and sewerage lines had also been laid in the area, he told people who had gathered on his arrival in the area.
