LAHORE: The Punjab Assembly approved Rs2.653 trillion annual budget for the fiscal year 2021-22 during its session here on Friday. Speaker Punjab Assembly Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi chaired the session, as Leader of the House, Chief Minister Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar, was present during the passage of finance bill and approval of the budget.
Provincial Finance Minister Hashim Jawan Bakht presented the finance bill in the House, which was duly approved. The House also allowed tax relief and exemptions given to the public during the coronavirus pandemic by the government. Earlier, the Punjab Assembly session started two hours behind its scheduled time of 2 pm. Provincial Law Minister Raja Basharat, meanwhile, presented the Ghazi National Institute of Engineering and Sciences Bill, 2021 before the House. On completion of the day’s agenda, Speaker Pervaiz Elahi adjourned the session till Monday, June 28.

LAHORE:Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar and Punjab Assembly Speaker Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi had a meeting at the Speaker s chamber on Friday and expressed satisfaction over completion of the budget approval process for the financial year 2021-22. Provincial Law Minister Raja Basharat, Punjab Assembly Secretary Muhammad Khan Bhatti and principal secretary to the chief minister were also present.
The chief minister appreciated the role being played by PA Speaker Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi to conduct the session in the best of manner. You have conducted the proceedings in the best of manner and in accordance with the parliamentary traditions, the chief minister mentioned and added, The cooperation extended by party members and allies is exemplary and I deem it fit and proper to thank you by visiting your chamber.
