LAHORE: Chief Minister Usman Buzdar and the PTI as well as PML-Q candidates for the Senate discussed on Monday the election strategy in a meeting wherein the candidates were asked to identify MPAs groups who would vote for them. Each candidate requires 46 votes for his election as senator from Punjab.
The CM has directed the provincial ministers to coordinate with the PTI and PML-Q candidates to finalise four sets of MPAs who would vote for the candidates.

Punjab Law Minister Basharat Raja has highlighted that traces of harmful ingredients have been found in some cosmetics and the government has decided to introduce new legislation to regulate cosmetic production.
Presiding over a consultative meeting on Punjab Cosmetics Control Bill 2021, at Civil Secretariat on Thursday, the minister pointed out that at present there was no law exist in the province to take action against those involved in the counterfeit cosmetics business.
“On the directives of Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar,” the minister said, “the process of manufacturing and sale of cosmetics was being brought under the purview of law for which a bill is being tabled in the Punjab Assembly.

Pakistan Peoples Party’s (PPP) lawmaker Syed Usman Mehmood expressed concern on Tuesday over delay on part of government departments in submitting replies to the queries put forth by both treasury and opposition members of Punjab Assembly.
He demanded a ruling for early submission of replies. PTI’s MPA Ahmed Khan Bhachar, who is also parliamentary secretary of local government and answered the queries of the lawmakers, seconded the stance of the PPP legislator.
Panel of Chairmen member Mian Muhammad Shafi directed the departments concerned to submit replies within the period prescribed in Rule 54 of “Rules of Procedure of the Provincial Assembly of the Punjab 1997”.

LAHORE: As schools and colleges will open from Jan 18, the Punjab health department has expressed concerns that coronavirus rate may increase if SOPs are not fully implemented in educational institutions.
