really, it s an assault on the rule of law and on law-abiding men and women in communities all over the country. they have no right and must not be allowed to take control over a single city block or street corner. this is an assault on law and safety and we aren t going to let it happen. are these gang members and cartel members we re seeing invulnerable? are they powerful figures that can t be touched? no. this office here, a number of years ago made substantial progress against ms-13. we ve seen that in other united states attorneys that i ve talked to. they hammered these organizations. but they ve come back. so we know we can hammer them again and we will do so. and it will require state and local officers at the forefront because they get the information first. but sometimes our federal
i am going to get to sally in a minute. why does that mean she needs a 100 round magazine in her gun? it s a bill of rights: it s not a bill of needs. the second amendment guarantees the right to bear arms. justice scalia wrote in dc verses hiller the second amendment protects the use of common firearms. the ar 15 is the most commonly owned rifle. let me get sally to weigh in. look, when the bill of rights wrauz w was written there weren t hundred round magazines and even conservative judges have said the second amendment hz its limitations when it comes to public safety. the larger industry, no one is stopping law abiding men and women from having guns to protect themselves. how do you balance that against public safety. i will be honest, if i have a daughter i have a daughter.
we don t know the details of what went on in college station, texas. we know there were a couple of officers that were down the individual is in custody now. when it gets back to this issue of taking guns away from law abiding citizens and somehow know this will make our country safer, i don t agree with that. i think most people in texas don t agree with that, and that is a state by state issue frankly that should be decided in the states and not again a rush to washington, d.c. to centralize the decision making, and them to decide what is in the best interest for the citizens and the people of florida and texas. texans, i suggest to you by and large a majority of them, a large majority of them believe that law abiding men and women should be able to have their weapons and criminals are never going to listen to the laws. they are always going to have weapons of whatever source they want, whether legal or illegal. i think it is wise for the people of the state of texas
