Arrest this week in Kamloops connected to April armed robbery

The call at 12:35 p.m. involved a man with facial tattoos running from security guards while carrying items. Evelyn said police officers, including the police dog tracking unit, eventually arrested a man down the hill on Dalhousie Drive in Southgate following a foot pursuit. He was wanted on a warrant issued earlier this month in connection with an armed robbery near Aberdeen Mall on April 19 . On that day, a man entered a retail store on the 1300-block of West Trans Canada Highway, stole merchandise and flashed what appeared to be a firearm in his waistband at the clerk. The robber ran down to Southgate and was seen in the area of Laval Crescent and Notre Dame Drive, during which nearby Beattie elementary was placed in hold and secure protocol while police searched the area.

TNRD wants to build new library across from Aberdeen Mall

A report to the board notes a proposed site has been identified across the street from Aberdeen Mall. The area north of the mall backs onto Kenna Cartwright Park, has previously been utilized as overflow mall parking. The report states the owner of Aberdeen Mall has agreed to ownership of the main floor of a strata development on that property. “An ideal site for a South Kamloops library has been identified along the busy Hillside corridor directly across from the Aberdeen Mall as part of strata premises in a new, free standing building,” the report states. “A 25,000-square-foot library occupying the main floor would be constructed within a phased strata development, with residential units above and commercial units on the same site in an adjacent building.”
