TAMPA, Fla. â Caroline Uhorchak may be just 9 years old. But the Florida girl is already doing grown-up things for Tampa Bay area shelter animals.
With her trusty red wagon, Caroline recently collected hundreds of toys, food, clothes and cash donations in her neighborhood. She then brought the massive haul to the Hillsborough County Pet Resource Center in Tampa. I just like animals and I like shelters, and I like what shelters do for animals, Caroline said. It s really nice.

Set up in his Batmobile for animals, Chris Van Dorn is not your average superhero. Better known as Batman, the Florida man is behind Batman4Paws, an Orlando-based nonprofit that rescues and transports animals in need.
âWhen I was thinking like, âOh, if I started a nonprofit, what would I want it to embody?â Batman came to my mind,â said Van Dorn. âSo I was like, âHey, why donât I rescue animals dressed as Batman? â

Three months ago, Monsieur the dog was found on the streets in Hillsborough County and picked up as a stray.
Workers at the Pet Resource Center were able to use Monsieur’s microchip to track down his owner in Charlotte, North Carolina.
