Following a number of passionate testimonials from teachers, parents and students, the Colchester school board unanimously voted to keep the district’s Black Lives Matter flags up for another three months.
When Colchester voters go to the polls on Tuesday, they will see two names in the running for open seats on the Colchester School Board, among them being Ben Yousey-Hindes.
âI believe deeply in the value of education at all levels â from pre-K through postgraduate â not just for individual students or families, but for this town and our entire society,â said Yousey-Hindes. âI am convinced that a strong Colchester School District, full of students who are happy and engaged and educators who are respected and supported, is a common good that benefits everybody who lives, works, or plays here.â
A Colchester High School (CHS) alum, Yousey-Hindes is the only candidate on the ballot seeking the open two-year term. That is the seat currently held by Curt Taylor who is not running for re-election.
