COMMON Good land on the edge of Nairn at the centre of a row between Highland Council and a local community council has now been identified as the preferred site for major expansion in the town in a new report.
Just as the Nairn West and Suburban Community Council lodged their objections to the proposed marketing of the 23-hectare Sandown Lands, the publication of the proposed new Inner Moray Firth Local Development Plan (IMFLDP) adds fuel to an already heated debate.

Nairn Provost Laurie Fraser has announced his opposition to controversial plans to sell-off Common Good land at Sandown.
It comes as the February 26 deadline for a public consultation on the move looms.
âI donât believe it is in the best interests of Nairn âitâs as straightforward as that,â Provost Fraser said.

Members of Nairn Golf Club ladiesâ section have raised £996 for young adults in the town with learning difficulties.
Nairn Bonus Club will benefit from the proceeds of a festive hamper raffle at the clubhouse, held prior to the current lockdown.
Ladies captain Rosalind Miller said: âThe ladiesâ section does something every year for deserving local causes and we agreed to make the bonus club our beneficiary this time.
