Three Local Wineries Talk COVID, Wildfires

The Willamette Valley is known for many things, including its fields of sheep, grass seed, and filbert or hazelnut trees. But as soon as you leave the valley floor and get into the hilly terrain of the region, crop land becomes dominated by one thing wine grapes.
The Valley is famous for its wineries, nestled amongst rolling vineyards and producing some of the nation’s best pinot noir and pinot gris, among others. The wine industry of the Valley is booming and, according to the Willamette Valley Wineries Association, includes almost 700 wineries, adding up to two-thirds of all the wineries in Oregon.

‘Tis the Season for Farm Stands and Markets in Corvallis

Summer is the season of abundantly fresh produce for residents of Willamette Valley. If you are busy on Saturdays and miss the big Corvallis Farmers’ Market on the riverfront, there are plenty of options in and around town for you to visit throughout the week and still fill your bag or basket with local veggies, fruits, jams, and more.
Drahnacre Farms
Where: 2345 NE Strawberry Lane, Corvallis
When: Produce building is open from 9:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m., 7 days a week.
What: Drahnacre Farms is about two miles down a gravel farm road in northeast Corvallis, but just keep driving, it is worth the trip out past the grass and vegetable fields. The small produce building recently had Italian and breakfast sausages, eggs by the dozen, squash, garlic, and walnuts for sale.
