Feb 18, 2021 WARREN Rosemary “Romie” Cassidy Furniss, 92, of Warren, passed away Monday evening, Feb. 8, 2021, with her loving daughters by her side. Romie was born Feb. 3, 1929, in Warren, the daughter of Ralph and Edna Ott Cassidy. She graduated in 1947 from St. Mary High School in Warren and went on to graduate in 1950 from St. Elizabeth Hospital School of Nursing. As a registered nurse, she worked in the three local hospitals. She also provided in home private duty nursing and in 1990, she retired from the Visiting Nurse Association, where she provided home health services in Trumbull and Mahoning counties. Romie’s compassionate heart, desire to help others and a genuine interest in making a difference in the lives of her patients were qualities that inspired her passion to become a nurse. Franklin girls easily outpace Woodmen 12/18/20 11:11 PM Few things invite the potential for complacency more than a 50-point victory earlier in the season. That was the dilemma facing the Franklin girls basketball team Friday night as it prepared to host Greenwood in a Mid-State Conference contest. The Grizzly Cubs, ranked eighth in Class 4A, moved to 9-0 with a 77-29 victory. The same squads met in November on the same hardwood with the Cubs prevailing, 75-25. Franklin junior guard Kuryn Brunson led all scorers with 24 points before checking out of the game for good with 6:34 remaining in the final quarter. Senior guard Kyra Baker added 15 points with freshman forward Erica Buening scoring 10 off the bench for the Cubs, who remain tied with Martinsville atop the league standings at 3-0.
