The three-day trial resulted in guilty verdicts of first-degree murder and discharge of a firearm.
Prosecutors and police also went to some extraordinary effort to bring in an important witness.
“We are very glad Tyrone Williams’ murderer has been brought to justice,” said State’s Attorney Tom Haine. “I hope this will provide some measure of relief to his family. Assistant State’s Attorneys Lauren Maricle and Katie Warren did tremendous work bringing this case together. It was a true team effort. They should be very proud.”

New names and faces are being announced through the Madison County State’s Attorney’s office as part of the new leadership team. With the down time created by the COVID-19 pandemic, State’s Attorney Tom Haine has been busy assembling a team he feels is capable of getting justice for residents of the county.
Among the names announced this week is a returning member of the office – Susan Jensen, who will be the newly-created Trial Advocacy Coordinator.

Other projects during the slow-down in cases included the launch of a full-case tracking system, and office and policy modernization. Haine says the team is motivated and prepared for a very busy year in Madison County’s justice system, dedicated to pursuing vigorous and fair justice.
