ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. Los Poblanos Historic Inn and Organic is about to get a little more relaxing with the opening of their new Hacienda Spa on July 1.
“The Hacienda Spa at Los Poblanos gives locals and tourists alike yet another reason to take respite in our remarkable state,” Los Poblanos spokeswoman Lauren Kemner said.
The new spa, which will be open to guests and the public, features treatments like massages and facials, according to Kemner. Yoga and meditation classes will also be held in a Wellness Yurt.
The Hacienda Spa at Los Poblanos is housed in a former residential building designed by the famed architect John Gaw Meem. (Roberto E. Rosales/Albuquerque Journal)

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. Just over 40 years ago, Sylvia Spence left her corporate job in pursuit of her weaving hobby – eventually turning her hobby into a local story of success.
But this week marks the end of Spence’s reign as the head of the Southwest-inspired Silverado Apparel and Home. The business, at 1318 Fourth NW, closes Friday.
Silverado was purchased by a mother and daughter team from Lubbock. In addition to purchasing the brand, the duo is also taking over the various manufacturing machinery, which is relocating to Texas.
Spence said the decision to sell her business and retire was difficult, but she is ready to spend her time in her rose garden with her husband rather than overseeing the business.

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.- Los Poblanos Historic Inn & Organic Farm is expanding.
It will soon be offering spa services, turning their historic hacienda building into a six room treatment room. During this time with COVID, it s been an opportunity to kind of slow down from all the business with our daily programming and daily business to kind of get back to our mission and really refocus what our intentions are, and we found that that is truly wellbeing, said Lauren Kemner, Los Poblanos marking manager.
Kemner said they will be hiring for 20 positions, including a therapist.
Kim Vollers, director of hospitality and operations, said they will be hosting a job fair.
