Photo by Jillian Felton | The State News Michigan State guard Janai Crooms announced via Instagram that she will be entering the transfer portal just one year after transferring to Michigan State from Big Ten rival Ohio State. “I want to start by thanking the coaches, teammates, fans and everyone else that played a role in my experience at Michigan State University,” Crooms said. “With that being said, I will be entering my name in the transfer portal and further my options.”

Looking to head into Big Ten play with momentum, the Spartans defeated the Oakland Golden Grizzlies 94-56 on a strong second-half performance. Merchant came into Tuesday’s game against Oakland with a clear mission to get rest for her stars and get experience for her depth. In the first quarter alone, Merchant played 10 of her players.
