STRATFORD, CT The Connecticut Air & Space Center announced Tuesday that a ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place to celebrate the opening of its annex for the public display of historic military and civilian aircraft restored by the Center.
The ceremony will take place at 12 noon on Thursday, May 27, at 225B Main St. in Stratford.
Stratford Mayor Laura R. Hoydick will be among those addressing the audience.
Subscribe The opening of this annex will be yet another milestone for the Center regarding public awareness of the history in aviation accomplishments during the past century, said Mark Corvino, president of the Center. He noted the restoration of these historic aircraft will help keep alive the spirit and bravery of the pilots who flew them into harm s way.

STRATFORD, CT The public is invited to comment during a virtual hearing next week regarding the Stratford Army Engine Plant stewardship agreement.
A virtual public informational hearing, hosted by the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection, to review a draft Stewardship Permit Renewal for the Stratford Army Engine Plant Property will be held at 6 p.m. on May 12, Mayor Laura R. Hoydick announced this week.
The Stewardship Permit s purpose is to require the completion of investigation, remediation, and long-term stewardship requirements including monitoring of environmental conditions, engineered controls, and institutional controls, as applicable, according to a news release. STRATFORD, CT The Stratford Town Council on Monday voted to support a resolution supporting home rule, a system of government that leaves development and zoning decisions in the hands of local officials.
Some bills in the Connecticut house and senate today aim to make changes to local zoning regulations, including one that would tax cities lacking affordable housing and another allowing affordable multifamily housing to be built near train stations and main streets.
Stratford Mayor Laura R. Hoydick voiced support for home rule government in the town, saying policy changes could have dire consequences to our planning ability and the shape of our community.

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. A former Connecticut state senator has passed away after a two-car accident last week in Bridgeport.
Edwin Gomes, 84 suffered head injuries in the crash on Sunday, December 14 and was in critical condition.
City police say Gomes was turning into a KFC restaurant when he colliding with an oncoming car. Officials say the 19-year-old driver of the other car suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
The crash remains under investigation.
Gomes, a Democrat from Bridgeport, retired from the Senate in the 23rd District last year after serving 12 years.
He was involved in various positions in government over the last five decades.
