SIOUX FALLS, SD (KELO.com) – The Sioux Falls School district has announced the federal government has extended FREE meals for all students – that includes breakfast and lunch – through June of next year.
Every enrolled student can enjoy a healthy breakfast and lunch at no cost during the 2021-22 school year.
Also, FREE breakfast and lunch continues at ten school locations this summer through July 29. This is a great option for all children, ages 0 to 18. No sign-ups, no paperwork. Just show up!

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) –Sioux Falls Thrive has partnered with Samaritans Feet to distribute approximately 480 pairs of shoes this week to children in the Kid Link Riverside Initiative neighborhood. Each child will receive a “Hope Tote” drawstring book bag that contains a new pair of athletic shoes, socks, hygiene kit (toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo, soap, comb, alcohol wipe, mask, and washcloth), and a “Hope Note” with an encouraging message submitted online from Samaritans Feet supporters.
On Friday, Feb. 5, from 10 a.m. to noon, volunteers will help pack and prepare the shoes. Later that day, approximately 380 Hope Totes will be taken to Laura B. Anderson Elementary School and teachers will then distribute the shoes to students.
