Sioux Falls School District officials shared updates with the school board Monday night on a program that helps students who need support in identifying and regulating their social and emotional wellbeing.
Deb Muilenburg-Wilson, senior director of special services in the district, gave the report.
Muilenburg-Wilson said she felt like she, too, had a good news report to give at Monday night s meeting by sharing updates on Tier 2 programming at seven of the district s elementary schools, and research the district did to look at where the program stands.
The Tier 2 program began as a pilot in 2014 at Anne Sullivan and Terry Redlin elementary schools. The objective was to keep students in their home school to continue their academic and social development. In the program, on average, one teacher teaches three students.
