CROWN POINT â Two new subdivisions are looking to call Crown Point home.
But before the subdivisions can think about carving out parcels for future residents, the Crown Point Plan Commission wants to see changes to one of the proposed developments.Â
During its Monday meeting, the Plan Commission held workshops for two subdivisions â The Willows and The Cottages of Golden Meadow â but didn t take action on either proposal. The intention of a workshop is to give the petitioner an idea of what the Plan Commission is thinking about their proposed development and to voice any concerns or corrections or positive feedback for them, so they know which way to head with their project, Plan Commission President John Marshall said.Â
CROWN POINT â A historic building s facade is set to be removed after engineers deemed it unsafe.Â
During a Monday Crown Point Historic Plan Commission meeting, Bryan Van Ryn, representing Duckit CRE, LLC, shared plans for 208 S. Main St., the former location of Antiques on Main. Due to the structural aspects and the existing building and the substructure of that wall, the report was given by the structural engineer that it s really not in a safe condition to restore, Van Ryn said.Â
Van Ryn said Duckit CRE is looking to construct a new facade and emulate what was there, noting a restaurant with a possible rooftop garden is proposed for the space.Â

CROWN POINT â The city is investing $60,000 in the first step toward addressing long-standing parking issues in the downtown area that could see changes as soon as this summer.Â
The Crown Point Board of Works on Wednesday unanimously approved an agreement with American Structurepoint, an engineering consulting firm, for a parking study.Â
Crown Point Mayor David Uran said the survey will include data collection; collision diagrams; sight distance evaluations; traffic simulation models; renderings of the proposed conditions; and a final design of new parking solutions.
