Forty-six area high school students were selected by their respective school staff for recognition April 19 at the Students of Character Celebration at Madden's on Gull Lake organized by Sourcewell.
Students had the option of wearing their pajamas to school for $1 on April 14, and raised $6,000 along with matching funds from the Princess Warrior Foundation.
14 students from Bertha-Hewitt, Freshwater, Menahga, Sebeka, Staples-Motley, Verndale and Wadena-Deer Creek are among those nominated for the celebration. Find out more about them here.
About 20 Wadena community members watched the documentary at a suicide prevention training on Sept. 29, along with hearing from the panel members of Eagle’s Healing Nest director Melony Butler, Wadena-Deer Creek high school social worker Laura Kiser, Maureen Baymler of New York Mills and Amanda Kramer of Alexandria.
