first of all, not too early to make a run at the threat of russia. second of all, prigozhin really came to a degree of prestige in the last several years. he was the tip of the spear for a lot of lattimer pond top priorities. the election interference, the war in syria and getting influence to national resources and africa. he would ve felt his own prestige growing up. he was not just an, oligarchy s got his own army. the irony of, this par the reason that putin has a cut up is like this, that viability. it s also because he doesn t want his own military and intelligence services to get too strong on their own so they would take a shot at him. too look what happened. i think prigozhin felt like he had this growing prestige. in the war, what happened? they thought they were hanging him out to dry. he thought that they were letting his men get chewed up in a meat grinder in places like bakhmut. they were starving. that they saw an opportunity, people like show you, that minister defe
those criticisms that prigozhin had made is something that resonates with the russian people, and how is that going to filter in the next weeks and months as the economy they re keeps getting weaker, as they re dragged further into this war in ukraine. a war that was meant to last three days, now there are 16 months in. it s a very precarious position for vladimir putin. he can t be feeling particularly strong right now with the way things are passing out across this country, and certainly in the capital. everything that s happened also challenges that image of unity that vladimir putin has tried so much to protect. we are going to get to the impact on the war in ukraine, but let me start with the impact with the war on russia, and with lattimer pond. we heard senator klobuchar say that this is a demonstrable crack. can we quantify how weak putin is as a result of this?
that whatever it is that motivates you to the poll, whether it is a concern about votes, whether it s a concern about voter suppression, which is still an issue that is in our country. whatever it takes, get to the barbara polls. and mcquade, basil i think that really should be the message. michaels, stevens. what a great penalty and my two hours. thank you for being here, much appreciated. that is going to do it for the special sunday edition of christiansen reports. make sure to join me tomorrow and every weekday from 1 to 3 pm eastern right here on msnbc. inside with jen psaki starts right now. an extraordinary armed rebellion and russia ends abruptly. the big questions remain. just how weekend s lattimer pond? is yevgeny prigozhin going to ride off into the sunset? perhaps most importantly, what does this all mean for the war in ukraine? joining us this hour, former
we ve known that he s behind several assassinations already. so, other turncoats and all sides. i don t think anyone is safe right now, except lattimer pond is behind the walls of the kremlin. right, there s probably a reason. he doesn t go out very much. right, right not outside. let me just ask you personally, we ve all covered some pretty extraordinary international events. this one is, the government will not acknowledge being surprised by it. i wonder if you have any insight into that. it is something you don t see very often, and that is putin s russia, the head of the wagner group, one of his great military allies marching toward him and against him. no, it s a credible. i was up i m actually in aspen, color audio. i was interviewing dr. vivek
to that argument. and i thought that you could very well be the ukrainians that were behind this. now, with the ukrainian military proper? no. i am hearing from many sources that it was likely ukrainian intelligence. and this was something to do to rattle the russians, and as intercepts have shown, russians communicating with each other was very skeptical about this, again, coming from them, and we re concerned that this was, indeed, at the hands of the ukrainians. now, weather is a lynskey knew about this or not, i think there is some question about that. and is, obviously, gives them a lot of plausible deniability too. do you know what this means for the war the? fact that, possibly, ukrainian special forces were able to make it to the kremlin with a drone? it shows how vulnerable the kremlin was. the kremlin took it to the tenth green says this was an assassination attempt against vladimir putin. unless lattimer pond was outside of that moment standing at the poll, this was not.
