Alexia Novella is an oil painter who lives and works in Melbourne. Her work focuses on the expression of memories, places and people through the use of still life painting. Alexia studied Visual Art at Latrobe College of Art and Design, undertook a scholarship in Sydney at the Julian Ashton Art School and has participated in artist workshops in Australia and abroad. Alexia has participated in numerous group shows in Melbourne as well as a split solo show with Timothy Perkins in 2019.
‘I painted these still lifes after returning from living in Sydney. I had a renewed appreciation for my home town and was inspired by it for the first time. Using found objects, I painted a series of still lifes describing the places that I had come back to and which left a heavy impression. I had fresh eyes to notice the quirks of the city, the bars, and the streets again.’
