SIGNING DAY NOTES

Coach Scott Frost knows two things about every walk-on class signed at NU. First, a few of the guys in each will rise to the top of the program and vie for playing time. Second, the walk-ons — 12 so far in NU s class — will come with a little bit of a chip on their shoulder. That includes Omaha Creighton Prep receiver/defensive back Alex Bullock, who Frost called one of the best players in the state when asked about him. I think he could play multiple positions, Frost said. Bullock caught 11 touchdowns and intercepted five passes this season. Frost said NU is lucky to get the kind of walk-on talent it does.

Live updates: Huskers have signatures from all 19 high school players; Omaha DB Dickerson not signing with Gophers | Recruiting

So, that will be a situation worth following over the next several weeks.  Nebraska took care of business in efficient manner on Wednesday morning.  The fax machine had an early morning. Malik Williams (Buford, Georgia) became the first 2021 Husker commit to deliver his National Letter of Intent shortly after 6 a.m. local time. The East Coast recruits didn’t take long to follow, either. Williams’ teammate at Buford High, running back Gabe Ervin, as well as wide receiver Shawn Hardy (Kingsland, Georgia), defensive lineman Ru’Quan Buckley (Grand Rapids, Michigan) and linebacker Mikai Gbayor (Irvington, New Jersey) were in bright and early, too.
