Reservoir acquires legendary hip hop indie Tommy Boy
Reservoir has acquired legendary indie Hip-Hop and Electronic record label Tommy Boy.
The deal encompasses more than 6,000 Tommy Boy masters including Coolio’s “Gangsta’s Paradise,” House of Pain’s “Jump Around,” and Afrika Bambaataa & The Soulsonic Force’s “Planet Rock”.
Founded by industry icon Tom Silverman, the fiercely independent label launched the careers of Queen Latifah, Coolio, De La Soul, Naughty By Nature, Afrika Bambaataa, Digital Underground, House of Pain, Force MDs, and more. It was also a pioneer in EDM with releases by LFO, Coldcut, and 808 State and Latin Freestyle and Latin Hip-Hop with releases by TKA, K7, and Information Society.
