Cold-weather shelters are open in multiple locations in our viewing area: Palm Beach County: Opening at 7 p.m. in Belle Glade at the Intake Assessment Center located at 341 NW 11th Street, Belle Glade, FL 33430. Palm Tran Connection will begin pickups according to the established routes at 6 p.m. The shelter will close at 7 a.m. Thursday.

Prepare to evacuate : SES issues warning for Tweed River

• Condong and surrounding areas   Due to flooding: • Tweed Valley Way to the north at Mohomad s corner in the vicinity of Stotts Island is closed • Terranora Road in North Tumbulgum may close Storm and flood impacts may interrupt essential services such as electricity, phones, internet, water and sewerage. The Bureau of Meteorology said in a new Moderate Flood Warning the Tweed River catchment had received heavy rainfall over the past two hours. However heavy rainfall rates are still observed in nearby parts of Queensland, and rainfall rates in the Tweed may reintensify for periods during the afternoon, the bureau said. River level rises have been observed at Boat Harbour, with smaller rises observed at Murwillumbah Bridge.

Update Tuesday, December 15, 4.20am The Bureau of Meteorology has predicted possible flooding for the Tweed River at South Murwillumbah and surrounding areas. As a result, businesses, residents and visitors to these areas should take action now to prepare for possible flood impacts. NSW SES is advising residents in low lying areas of the following locations that they may need to evacuate due to rising flood water. These areas include: • Greenhills Caravan Park • Residential and business areas bounded by the Tweed River, the railway line, Alma Street and the southern end of Wardrop Street and Railway Street • Tweed Valley Way between Mistral Road and Rose Lane.

Update Tuesday, December 15, 4.45am Heavy rain has continued over the Tweed catchment over night and may continue in the next few hours. Water levels along the Tweed River have responded strongly to the increased rainfall. Minor flooding is occurring at Murwillumbah where moderate flooding is expected to develop this morning. River levels at Tumbulgum are above the minor flood level and are expected to reach the major flood level on Tuesday around noon with the high tide. River levels at Chinderah are expected to reach the moderate flood level on Tuesday around noon with the high tide. Further rises are possible if the rain intensifies again in the next few hours.
