LONG ISLAND, NY Snow piled up across Long Island as a nor easter battered the area Monday.
East Northport received the most snow with 18.1 inches, according to unofficial totals from the National Weather Service. In Nassau County, Hicksville received the most with 17.6 inches. The accumulations were recorded for the weather service by trained spotters and members of the public.
As Long Islanders dug out Monday, meteorologists were keeping an eye on a developing storm system that could bring more snow to the area this weekend. There s a 40 percent chance of snow on Sunday, according to the latest Long Island forecast. The Weather Channel predicted 2-6 inches of snow.
