Drivers with shift work sleep disorder 3 times more likely to be in crash: Study ANI | Updated: May 14, 2021 13:48 IST
Missouri [US], May 14 (ANI): As people working late-night may face a couple of health issues due to the disturbance in body clock, they may suffer from shift work sleep disorder. According to researchers, people who develop this condition are also three times more likely to be involved in an accident.
Individuals working in late shifts such as 11 pm -7 am, or the graveyard shift, are more likely than people with traditional daytime work schedules to develop a chronic medical condition shift work sleep disorder that disrupts their sleep.
Boston (Massachusetts) [US], May 3 (ANI): A new study, presented today at the AATS 101st Annual Meeting, shows an association between decreased survival at five years and leaving an atrial communication at biventricular repair of unbalanced AVSD after adjusting for other known risk factors.

Up to 24 pc of esophagectomy patients can develop VTE post-operatively: Study ANI | Updated: May 02, 2021 07:33 IST
Boston (Massachusetts) [US], May 2 (ANI): A new study presented at the AATS 101st Annual Meeting, found that the percentage of patients undergoing esophagectomy for cancer who suffer Venous Thromboembolism (VTE) post-operatively is much higher than previously reported, with as many as 24 per cent suffering from Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) or Pulmonary Embolism (PE).
The novel study pointed out that six-month mortality for patients with VTE was 17.6 per cent compared to 2.1 per cent for those without.
Venous Thromboembolism (VTE) is a common, potentially preventable post-operative complication leading to significant morbidity and mortality. Esophagectomy patients are amongst the highest risk groups for VTE due to disease burden, the magnitude of surgery and high rate of perioperative morbidity. The study aimed to quantify the tru
Study focuses on engineering T cells to attack cancer broadly ANI | Updated: May 01, 2021 08:27 IST
Richmond (Virginia) [United States], May 1 (ANI): Through T cell engineering, researchers at Virginia Commonwealth University Massey Cancer Center show that it s possible to arrest tumour growth for a variety of cancers and squash the spread of cancer to other tissues. This research will be published in the journal Cancer Research.
The paper builds on decades of research by study co-senior author Paul B. Fisher, M.Ph., Ph.D., a member of Massey s Cancer Biology research program, who discovered a protein called IL-24 that attacks a variety of cancers in several different ways.
